The Friends entered the It’s Your Neighbourhood category for ‘London in Bloom’ as usual but in 2015 were judged ‘Outstanding’ for the first time. This was in addition to the successful retention of our Green Flag. For the RHS London in Bloom, we had to prove our credentials – pruning last autumn, lots of watering of newly planted whips, drought resistant plantings in the central round bed, biodiversity surveys, talks and walks (and wet picnic!) and some gardening sessions, not to mention working with the Council and the on-site gardeners to make this a lovely place to visit. As the seasons turn, each brings it challenges and its positives – ready to include in the portfolio we prepare for next year’s judge.
