The Friends are working actively with the Council (after many years of red tape) to raise funds to help pay or the restoration of the 3 graded at-risk monuments. These are – 1) the Reception House to be seen in the trees covered in scaffolding and plastic nearish the Barons Court entrance, 2) the Young Mausoleum – likewise protected and near the ‘hospital end’ of the cemetery, and 3) the Abe Smith memorial opposite the Mausoleum.
The weekly gardening group meet on Sundays at 11am at the Reception House. At present we are concentrating on clearing bramble as well as other invasive species. We are also about to weed the central bed and plant and care for young trees. Feel free to join us.
